My wife and I are both school teachers in Central New York, and we determined many years ago (around 2007) that we’d take advantage of having Summer’s off from work and use that time to travel and accumulate new experiences with our two boys. We had taken 4 trips to Florida and 1 trip to Texas, and since our boys were very young at the time, we always broke those trips up into shorter drives and visited places in different states en-route. After the Texas trip in 2013, we realized that we had visited 10 different states as a family and came up with this crazy idea of “Why not try to visit all 50 states?!” So we put a plan together and mapped out how we could make it happen before our boys were out of college and working. 10 years (and 10 Summer’s) later… MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
Our objective was to actually visit someplace(s) in each state, and learn a little bit about the area and contribute a little something to those local economies… so simply driving through a state didn’t count for us! It’s been the greatest and most rewarding adventure of our lives to be able to share these experiences with our kids!
The ultimate goal of our blog is to provide travel tips and insight from our own experiences to hopefully inspire others to hit the road with their loved ones!
